Department has set up different institutions for women and girls at Gandhi Vanita Asharm, Jalandhar.
The Building of this complex was established in 1948 at the time of partition between India and Pakistan. In 1968, Home for widows and destitute women was established for widow women and destitute women, who have no economic and social support.
Presently, Rupees 2000 is disbursed to each resident of the home (i.e. Mothers and their children) for their daily needs.
In addition to this, residents are given free shelter, electricity, water and medical facilities. The capacity of home is 250 inmates approx.
