In order to address malnutrition in India, Govt. of India has approved setting-up of National Nutrition Mission (NNM) and to roll it out in a phased manner with an aim to achieve improvement in nutritional status of children in the age group of 0-6 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers. The annual targets under the POSHAN Abhiyaan are given-

The following components are covered under the POSHAN Abhiyaan :

· Mapping of various Schemes contributing towards addressing malnutrition.

· Constitution of Convergence Committees at Block, District and State Level.

· Information and Communication Technology enabled Real Time Monitoring through smart phones

· Incentivizing Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) for using IT based tools and eliminating registers used by AWWs

· Regular growth monitoring of children at the Anganwadi Centres (AWCs)

· Monthly Community Based Events and Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day

· Converting the Abhiyaan into a Jan Andolan with the help of community.
