The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal), 2013 has been legislated by the Government of India (GOI) to provide protection against sexual harassment of women at workplaces and for the prevention and redressal of complaints of sexual harassment.
Definition of Sexual Harassment:
“Sexual harassment” includes any unwelcome
sexually inclined behavior, whether directly or
indirectly, such as:
• Physical contact and advances
• Demand or request for sexual favors
• Sexually colored remarks
• Showing any pornography, or
• Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature.
It is mandatory to constitute Internal Committee (IC)
in each public and private establishment with 10 or
above employees for the redressal of complaints.
It is mandatory to constitute Local Committee (LC)
at district level for the redressal of complaints.
